Webster technique
Webster Technique
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic adjustment for pregnant women, particularly those with pelvic imbalances that may affect fetal positioning or labor. It focuses on restoring balance in the pelvis, reducing uterine tension, and potentially helping the baby achieve a more optimal position for birth. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of subluxation and/or SI joint dysfunction. In so doing, neuro-bio-mechanical function in the sacral/pelvic region is improved.
Sacral subluxation may contribute to difficult labor for the mother (i.e., dystocia), caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction, and baby mal-presentation. Correction of sacral subluxation may positively affect all of these causes of dystocia.
How it Works:
Pelvic Alignment: The technique involves gentle adjustments to the sacrum and surrounding structures to improve pelvic alignment.
Reduced Uterine Torsion: The Webster Technique can help reduce uterine tension and torsion by addressing pelvic imbalances, potentially improving the baby's movement and positioning.
Improved Fetal Positioning: The technique creates a more favorable environment for the baby to move into a head-down position (vertex) for birth.
Benefits:
Relief from Back Pain and Pelvic Pain: Many pregnant women experience back pain and pelvic pain due to hormonal changes and the weight of the baby. The Webster Technique can help alleviate these discomforts.
Improved Labor Outcomes: The Webster Technique may provide more comfortable and easier labor and delivery by reducing pelvic tension.
Support for In-Utero Constraint: The Webster Technique is often used to address in-utero constraint, where the baby may not be in the head-down position.
